Held in the United Kingdom, China, Middle East, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan, the Recruitment International (RI) Awards is a globally recognized event that honors the industry’s top people and companies from many sectors.
Custom Media first collaborated with the RI Awards in Tokyo in 2016, helping it promote the event in The ACCJ Journal and BCCJ ACUMEN magazines. This media coverage brought in a significant number of guests and nominees, and the event was a huge success.
When the RI Awards was looking for help to stage the Tokyo event in 2018, they knew they could rely on Custom Media to be co-host and get the word out to its extensive contacts in the recruitment industry.
Custom Media handled logistics in Japan. We sourced the venue and ran local promotions, including placing adverts on the websites for the magazines of the American and British chambers of commerce, which drove ticket sales. We created marketing collateral and signed up most sponsors.
To ensure the maximum number of nominees, we conducted database marketing and used our familiarity with the recruitment industry in Japan, getting the most influential companies—international and domestic—to nominate themselves or their employees.
Director of RI Awards
David Head, director of RI Awards, couldn’t have been more pleased with how the event ran, from pre-planning to post publicity:
“When RI was considering a partner for its global awards program in Japan, the clear and obvious choice was Custom Media. The Tokyo-based communications, publications and events specialist was already familiar with RI’s awards evenings, having attended them in the past. This, coupled with their unquestionable knowledge and expertise regarding the Japanese markets, made the decision an easy one.
“The collaboration between the two companies has proved to be a huge success. The awards evening was attended by a large number of the most high-profile staffing companies in Japan and from an organizer’s perspective, the entire awards program was delivered on time and under budget.
“Such has been the positive feedback from the evening that RI and Custom Media are already planning their 2019 awards.”
